Aquabase Scuba Diving is owned and operated by Ting Suk Eng, a very experienced diver with PADI MSDT-478144 (Master Scuba Diver Trainer) and BSAC (The British Sub Aqua Club) Open Water Instructor #5155 certification and 17 years of experience. Eng has performed more then 1,500 dives and has taught more than 200 drivers from skillsets ranging from basic divers to dive Masters. Eng is probably the best and most experienced female diver in Borneo. Eng is also a licensed tourist guide (Q 0140);- The old colonial city of Kuching and the jungles of Borneo have many interesting tours and sights to offer.

We offer various diving packages for certified divers to explore the marine life of Borneo. Our Satang Island dives are among the most beautiful as you'll get to see the most coral and marine life. The more adventurous among us may wish to see the Japanese Katori wreck, an amazing sight to behold. Katori Wreck Dives

Feast your eyes on the Katori Maru wreck, a 10,000 ton Japanese troop carrier taken down by a Dutch submarine and finished by a British aircraft in 1941. Underwater visibility ranges from 7m to 10m where you will be able to discover the main portion still intact along with other war relics in the rubble. The shallowest point of the wreck is the bridge structure at 12m, with the deepest around 25m. The package includes 2 dives, water, light snacks and professional guide. Full set equipment rental for an addition RM 100 per pax. (RM 400 if 1 diver / RM 380 for 2+ divers)

Satang Island Dives

Satang Island is Sarawak's first marine national park. If you are lucky, you will be able to see baby turtles in the park's hatchery. Snorkeling and diving around the island, you will find a magnitude of beautiful corals and a vast marine life. The package includes 2 dives, water, light snacks and national park fees. The dive is simple and suitable for all level divers. Snorkeling is also possible when diving at Satang Island with addition RM 50 per pax. (RM 420 for 1 diver / RM 360 for 2+ divers)

Curious but lack the ability to dive? Worry not as we also offer a variety of courses. Our certified instructors will ensure you will be able to cover the basics of leisure Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA) diving with ease. Even professionals can pick up new skills with the variety of specialized courses we offer.

Introductory/Discovery Scuba Diving (Satang Island)

This is perfect for those curious to see the underwater world. It is a single 3 hour activity inclusive of gear rental.

RM 500 per pax

PADI Open Water Diving Certification

This is the beginner level. You will be qualified to dive up to 18m. It is a 3 day course and includes 4 dives in the open sea, 5 confined dives to test shallow water skill, and a final exam. Children applying for the course must be above the age of 10 with a diving restriction of 12m. This course comes with a lifetime PADI certification card, includes gear, boat, and instructor fees. Land transfer, accommodation, food, and swimwear not included.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diving Certification

This will train you with second level skills. Adults will qualify for 30m dives whereas children, aged 12 to 15 will qualify fo 12m dives. It is a 2 day course and totals 5 dives. This course includes gear, boat, and instructor fees. Land transfer, accommodation, food, and swimwear not included.

Emergency First Response

PADI Emergency First Response is focused on building confidence for rescuers in the face of a medical emergency. Participants learn simple to follow steps for emergency care and practice applying skills in a controlled learning environment. 1 day course for both adult and children, gear not included.

PADI Rescue Diver

PADI Rescue Diver training qualifies divers for self rescue as well as recognizing and managing stress in other divers. A rescue diver will be able to rescue panicked and unresponsive divers and know emergency equipement management skills. The course takes a total duration of 3 days and does not include any additional rental costs.

PADI Divemaster

The PADI Divemaster course is a first level of professional training where divers will be fine-tune their diving and rescuing skills and be able to solve common problems. Please contact us for details and pricing. Minimum of 2 weeks if starting from rescue level.

For the curious, we offer various adventure tour packages that showcase the beauty of Borneo. Our adventure tours explore the wildlife and unique flora and fauna of Borneo by exploring our islands and national parks. The packages are affordable and suitable for people of all ages. Packages do include island fees of RM 45 tour guide fee, parking fee, a bottle of drinking water, light snacks and additional equipment. All tours start at 9 am. Its also possible to arrange an afternoon trip.


Snorkeling at Satang

The Satang National park consists of two islands, Pulau Satang Besar and Pulau Satang Kecil, both located in the South China Sea. The surrounding waters is reserved as a sanctuary for turtles. Visitors can sometimes witness turtles while snorkeling. Explore the beach and snorkel around the seascapes of Pulau Satang Besar. The seas host some very rare corals and sponges as well as a wide variety of beautiful fishes. Go and see crocodiles, dolphins, and proboscis monkeys on our way back to Aquabase. Tour includes snorkel equipment, National park fees, music, water, and light snacks.

Sunset Safari

Enjoy a sunset safari cruise around the mongrove forest of Sarawak wetland where you will get the chance to see fireflies, proboscis monkeys, crocodiles, and perhaps even dolphins if you are lucky. The cruise is from 17:00 to 20:00 and passes a local floating fisherman village that shows local culture. Tour includes water, one soft drink and light snacks.

Bako National Park

Bako National Park is surrounded by forest, wildlife, jungle streams, waterfalls, interesting plant life, secluded beaches and trekking trails. This is something you want to see and discover while in Sarawak of Borneo. A short boat ride away to the wetland look out for monkeys, wild pig and array of bird life. Afterwards take a 45 minutes trek trough to the jungle to see one of the kind rock formations of Borneo. Tour includes water, light snacks, professional guide and National park fee.

Fairy & Wind Save

Approximately 45 min from AquaBase, we can visit two of the most popular caves in Sarawak. Wind cave allows you to walk 40 min through the cave in complete darkness using only your flashlight. After that just a short 10 min drive away is Fairy Cave. Here you will walk through and discover some unusual stalactities and stalagmites. Tour includes water, light snacks, transfer fee, professional guide and torch light. It is also possible to visit a local market to buy souvenirs and have lunch at Indonesia border by request only. (only on Saturday/Sunday)

Santubong Peak Hike

Samtubong Peak offers an amazing view of Sarawak and is not for the faint hearted. This hike is 802m high and has some technical stages but it is all worth it. Have a dip in the fresh water streams along the way. The hike takes for the avaeragely fit around 6 hours (3h up and 3h down). Don't forget your camera, hiking shoes and lots of water. Tour includes light snacks, and professional guide.
